Charles
A. Whittier is the managing partner of the Whittier
Law Firm and has been a licensed attorney since 1980.
A graduate of the University of London (UK) law school,
Mr. Whittier is a specialist in the field of international
trade and cross boder transactions. For over 20 years,
he has represented clients involved in various diverse
businesses such as textile manufacturing, breweries,
re-insurance, entertainment and petroleum production
equipment to name but a few. This representation has
involved the structuring of joint ventures for manufacturing
and sales between U.S. clients and their overseas partners;
incorporation of off-shore companies for re-insurance
and investment purposes; negotiating the sale of foreign
licenses to music publishing rights and creating long-term
supply contracts for petroleum drilling equipment.
Mr. Whittier is a member of the bar in New York, England & Wales, Bermuda and Zimbabwe; he is also a member of the U.S. Court of International Trade. Apart from his work as an attorney, Mr. Whittier has written extensively on issues affecting international trade in various respected publications such as the Journal of Commerce, the Times (of London) and the African Business magazine.
In addition to his work in international trade, attorney Whittier's practice includes the field of entertainment and sports law. In this capacity, he acts as counsel to several sports agents in the U.S. and the U.K., advising them on negotiations over professional player contracts, eligibility considerations, disciplinary actions and product endorsement deals. As an entertainment lawyer, Mr. Whittier advises musicians on contracts, royalties and the acquisition of rights to master recordings. He also incorporates music publishing companies for songwriters and assists in the licensing (domestic and international) of their works.
